Why We Care
We asked our team why they were passionate about Arts & Culture. Responses included:
“The arts have been a major part of my life since I was 9 years old, when I was lucky enough to start taking piano lessons. My love for piano grew up with me and continues to be a part of my identity today.
As a piano teacher, I have seen a shy child’s confidence skyrocket after a successful recital performance. I have seen an adult’s lifelong dreams come true when they finally learn to play that piece they’ve always wanted to learn. I have seen parents’ eyes light up watching their child show bravery and determination on stage.
As a professional pianist, I have a skill I’ll take with me everywhere for the rest of my life. I have met so many incredible people through collaborative performances, teaching and events. Being a pianist has broadened my horizons more than I ever imagined.”
I’m so passionate about supporting the arts and culture! When my daughters were in middle school and high school, they were the fortunate participants of a nonprofit conservatory that provided free lessons, theory classes, and ensemble experience . This experience changed their lives and, as was the slogan of the conservatory, “Awakened the musician within.” Supporting these kinds of nonprofits will always be a passion of mine!
Art is form of self expression uniquely positioned to inspire meaning distinctive to the viewer, no matter the cultural background. It inspires action by inciting new questions, by invoking curiosity, and by shining a light on the human experience. Art & Culture serves not only as a means to represent, but a means to connect.
