Client Shoutout

At Nonprofit Megaphone, we are all honored and humbled to work for such amazing organizations. We want to take a moment in each newsletter to share more about the mission and work of one of our clients. This month, we would like to introduce you to U.S. Masters Swimming (USMS), an organization that is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and whose mission is to promote health, wellness, fitness, and competitions through swimming.

In a recent interview with Kyle Deery, Senior Director of Marketing & Communications for USMS, it was wonderful hearing first-hand the impact that USMS has on communities all over the country not only in servicing current swimmers but also teaching others how to swim. They have 1,500 local clubs that provide coaching and a community to many of the 50,000 USMS members. But when someone joins USMS, they get more than just local coaching. Here are some of the other wonderful benefits USMS offers to its members

  • Pool and open water swimming events
  • Searchable swimming workout library
  • Exclusive articles and videos
  • SWIMMER magazine
  • Discounts on swimming products
  • Insurance
  • So much more!

When USMS started over 50 years ago, the goal was to provide competitions for adults, but as the adult fitness market grew in the 80s, they started to see that many adults were beginning to join USMS for the health benefits and to reach their own specific fitness goals, sometimes through the competition, but often through the coaching and training provided by the USMS coaches.

With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, it has certainly been much harder for adults to participate in and take advantage of all that USMS has to offer. While many of the clubs have had to shut down and are now working on reopening, USMS wanted to make sure their members were still feeling connected and had access to information to help get them through this tough time. They did this by providing more than 40 articles  on drylands training, mental health, open water swimming, coronavirus and swimming, and many more. Amazingly, Kyle said that, with the help of NPM, one of their recent articles had over 700,000 views! They have also created the first-ever virtual swim meet!

NPM is proud to be a partner with USMS, working with them for over two years. As an organization, USMS consistently creates new website content. Kyle actively communicates those changes and updates to his team at NPM, which in turn lets the team know what their objectives are and how to get the best results. Working as an effective team has greatly contributed to USMS’s success! According to Kyle, one of the biggest metrics he noted is that their CTR was around 2% when NPM took over, and it soon hit 10% and has remained steadily over 10%. He especially likes that NPM has informative check-ins and takes quick action for their requests. “It’s like letting a dog-lover watch your dog while you are away and can’t take proper care of it,” Kyle said about his experience with NPM.

At NPM, we consider that a very high compliment, as more than 60% of our staff are dog parents, and we know how important it is to find the right person to watch over our beloved pets. We treat everyone one of our accounts as if it were our own, and have especially enjoyed working with U.S. Masters Swimming!
